active · Updated Sep 27, 2026

  1. September 22, 2026 · Town Council

Final decisions on 555 Basalt Avenue move to October 27

The developer is asking council to postpone the master-plan and development hearings until October 27 to finish meetings with neighbors. No approval or denial is proposed Tuesday.

What changed: The final hearings are being delayed again, this time from September 22 to October 27. The applicant says additional neighborhood meetings are underway, including one September 23, and wants time to consider that feedback; the packet contains no revised unit count, site plan or financial commitment yet.

  2. September 8, 2026 · Town Council

555 Basalt Avenue decisions postponed to September 22

Council is expected to postpone the master-plan amendment and final development vote for 555 Basalt Avenue. The applicant requested more time for neighborhood outreach after a family medical emergency.

What changed: The master-plan amendment and final development ordinance were scheduled to return September 8 after being continued on August 25. The applicant now requests another continuance, to September 22, because a family medical emergency delayed planned neighborhood outreach. No revised unit count, funding commitment or approval condition is included in this agenda.

  3. August 25, 2026 · Town Council

Revised 555 Basalt Avenue plan reaches final votes

Council will consider a master-plan map change and final approval for 42 storage or light-industrial spaces, 30 homes, 12 live-work homes and two community-serving commercial spaces.

What changed: The item has advanced from first reading to the final second-reading vote after council’s 4-3 preliminary approval. New commitments cover exterior lighting and electric and solar readiness, while community-serving spaces must be reoffered to qualifying users for 30 days at each ownership transfer over 30 years. Council also has a new choice between two construction-phasing conditions and must decide whether a small grocery should be allowed.

  4. August 11, 2026 · Town Council

Revised 555 Basalt Avenue plan returns with more deed-restricted housing

Council will revisit a mixed-use proposal with 42 storage or light-industrial spaces, 30 homes, 12 live-work homes and two commercial spaces. The latest revision raises deed-restricted housing to 64%.

What changed: The previous issue described the expected final land-use votes, while this agenda is the earlier continued hearing and first reading. Since the prior July review, all 12 live-work units are proposed as Primary Resident units, deed-restricted housing rises to 64%, and the applicant has added improvement commitments capped at $175,000 for Fiou Lane and $180,000 for Cody Lane.

  5. July 14, 2026 · Town Council

Reworked 555 Basalt Avenue plan returns for a first vote

Council will consider a revised Southside project with 42 homes, 42 storage or industrial spaces and two community-commercial spaces. Housing restrictions, Fiou Lane improvements and local-business priorities remain central questions.

What changed: The proposal is no longer the earlier 54-storage-unit, 47-home plan. It now has 42 homes, including 12 live-work units, 42 storage or light-industrial spaces and two community-commercial spaces, with added local-buyer, artist and employee-housing programs. Council is now being asked for a first-reading vote rather than another continuance, and the draft adds specific Fiou Lane, Cody Lane, drainage, fee and construction conditions.

  7. June 23, 2026 · Town Council

555 Basalt Avenue hearing moves to July amid conflicting unit counts

Council is scheduled to delay the 555 Basalt Avenue hearing until July 14. The agenda again lists 54 storage units and 47 homes, conflicting with the smaller revised plan discussed June 9.

What changed: On June 9, council heard the revised project and continued the hearing to June 23 while staff prepared possible ordinance conditions. The new agenda postpones it again, this time to July 14. It also lists 54 storage units and 47 homes instead of the June 9 version’s 42 storage units, 30 condominiums and 12 live-work units; the packet does not explain the discrepancy.

  8. June 9, 2026 · Town Council

The 555 Basalt Avenue hearing is delayed again amid changed unit counts

Council is scheduled to postpone the Southside redevelopment hearing until June 23. The new agenda lists 42 storage units, 30 homes and 12 live-work units.

What changed: The hearing was previously continued to June 9; council is now being asked to move it again, to June 23. The agenda now lists 42 commercial storage units, 30 residential units and 12 live-work units, rather than the previously described 47 homes and 54 commercial storage or flexible-work units. The packet does not explain whether this is a revised project or a change in how units are labeled.

  9. May 26, 2026 · Town Council

The 555 Basalt Avenue hearing is postponed to June 9

Council is scheduled to delay the 555 Basalt Avenue hearing again, without deciding the proposed 47 homes and 54 commercial storage or flexible-work units.

What changed: On May 12, council was scheduled to move the hearing to May 26. The new consent item would postpone it again, this time to June 9. The agenda identifies no revised unit count, housing offer, circulation plan or reason for the additional delay.

  10. May 12, 2026 · Town Council

The 555 Basalt Avenue hearing is postponed again

Council is scheduled to move the 555 Basalt Avenue hearing to May 26 without discussing the project May 12. The proposal remains 47 homes and 54 commercial storage or flexible-work units.

What changed: Council continued the hearing from April 28 to May 12 after discussing housing, traffic and Southside access. The May 12 consent agenda now proposes another continuance, to May 26, with no substantive hearing or decision this week. The agenda does not identify a changed unit count, housing offer or circulation plan.

  11. April 28, 2026 · Town Council

555 Basalt Avenue returns with more restricted housing and a revised traffic plan

The developer now proposes restrictions on 22 of 47 homes and limits 30 of 54 commercial units to storage. Council will discuss housing, traffic and Fiou Lane, then likely continue the hearing to May 12.

What changed: The April 14 agenda only postponed the hearing; this meeting includes a site visit, presentations, public testimony and council discussion. The applicant has added 11 primary-resident homes, bringing restricted occupancy to 22 of 47 units, and revised the traffic study to count 24 commercial units as light industrial while limiting 30 to storage only. A one-way concept for Fiou Lane and additional pedestrian connections are also now proposed.

  12. April 14, 2026 · Town Council

555 Basalt Avenue hearing is delayed again

Council will not review the proposed 47-home and 54-storage-unit redevelopment April 14. The consent agenda would continue its public hearing to April 28.

What changed: The March 24 agenda called for an introductory hearing and contemplated continuing the project to April 14. Council is now being asked only to continue the hearing again, this time to April 28. The supplied April 14 materials identify no revised unit count, affordability condition or other substantive plan change.
