Beyond town hall

Mid-Valley Community resources

Neighbors around Basalt track growth, water, and land use closely. These groups are independent of the Town and of The Basalt Brief — we link to them so you can read them yourself and decide what you think.

Growth and land use in the midvalley

Save Mid-Valley

A community group organized around large development proposals in the midvalley, between Basalt and El Jebel. The site collects background on active projects, explains what stage each one is at, and points residents to the meetings and comment periods where decisions actually get made.

Why it matters here: Useful if you want a closer look at a specific project than a council agenda gives you, or want to know when and where to speak up.

The site notes it is still being built out, so pages and features may change.

Rural character, water, and safety in Missouri Heights

Keep Missouri Heights Rural (KMOHR)

A grassroots 501(c)(3) nonprofit working to preserve the rural character, sustainability, safety, and quality of life in Missouri Heights, just above Basalt and El Jebel. Much of their work centers on development that could strain local resources — especially water — along with wildfire risk and traffic on county roads.

Why it matters here: Missouri Heights sits in Garfield and Eagle County, but what happens there shapes traffic, water, and wildfire risk for Basalt too.
